1 Connected Marriage

What is the Village Marriage Course?

The Village Marriage Course is a video, workbook, and live teaching series for couples looking for practical support to strengthen their relationship. This does not involve you talking about your stuff to a group, as conversations will be between you and your partner at your own table.

Who's it for?

The Village Marriage Course is for any couple who wants to invest in their relationship, whether you have been together one year or 61 years, whether you have a strong relationship or are struggling. Some couples do the course to intentionally invest in their relationship, strengthen their communication, and deepen intimacy. The course has also helped struggling relationships identify specific areas they need marital counselling in to help them work through issues. While the course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for couples with or without a church background.

Whether you are in a blissful marriage or stalemate - this course guides you through 6 weeks of conversations that will refresh your vows and help enliven intimacy in your relationship!

What can you expect?

You will be seated at your own candlelit table for two. Each session consists of a lovely meal, non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert. Your session hosts a practical talk and guided times for private conversation between you and your partner on the evening’s topic. Homework is encouraged…we suggest at least one extra night a week.

Background music ensures that you can chat in privacy. You never share anything about your relationship with anyone other than your partner.

Josh Kruse, who is the Pastor of Counselling & Care at Village Church will be leading the course. He will be supported by marriage mentors who, together, offer over 50 years of diversified radical married life experience! They bring practical skills to building strong, exciting marriages.

Some conversations include:

  • Understand each other’s needs – emotionally and physically
  • Communicate more effectively – "what do I really mean and what are you really saying?"
  • Grow closer by learning methods to resolve conflict and communicate without fear
  • Recover from the ways you may have hurt each other
  • Recognize how your upbringing affects your relationship
  • Improve relationships with each other around parents and in-laws
  • Develop greater sexual intimacy and spiritual intimacy
  • Discover how to leverage one another’s "love languages" and emotional abilities
  • Develop a marriage that is on mission
