Why do we plant churches? From the very first days of Village Church 12 years ago church planting and a vision for gospel centered churches being planted as a movement across Canada has been a core part of who we are as a church. There are a number of reasons for this:

Village Church thinks big and always wants to think beyond its borders. That’s why we are excited about the opportunity to see the gospel preached and many people become fully devoted followers of Jesus in the country of Cuba. Restoration House ministries is a partner organization with Village Church that is heavily involved in Cuba accelerating the explosion of church plants there. This organization was founded by a couple from the Village Church family and we are proud to partner with them in this exciting work. Their model of supporting the Cuban church planting effort has created a scenario where church planting pastors are being trained quickly and churches planted quickly primarily in the southeast region of the country. For approximately $20,000 we can fund one of these church plants. So our goal is to use $200,000 of the total church planting vision goal to plant 10 churches right away in the country of Cuba! Pastors can be equipped and these churches planted in the next year if the funding is in place because the church is growing at an incredible pace there and our partners have created a model that can scale very quickly and have incredible local impact.

You may be thinking, is this the right time to take on such an ambitious vision? Well, the answer is yes! We have trusted God to lead us into this vision for a number of years now and this is the time to take the next step. Just as we have trusted him to this point, we will trust him in this next moment because we don’t believe the vision or the urgency has changed. 

So here is what we are asking you to do…consider partnering with us in this incredible vision. Imagine, four more healthy churches across our country seeing people come to know God, being baptized, joining into community, and becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus! Imagine 10 thriving churches in Cuba meeting the needs of their communities tangibly and seeing scores of people giving their lives to Jesus! 

Your next step is simple: take time to consider your partnership. What does your partnership in this vision look like over and above the ways that you give currently to Village Church or other groups for the rest of 2022? That process of consideration might be quick and you are ready to go. That process might take a little more time and discussion with your spouse or family. Practically speaking, your partnership might look like setting up a recurring amount to the designated Village Church Planting fund for the rest of the year. It could mean a one time gift now. Perhaps, you are considering a significant year end gift. If this is the case, we’d love to hear from you in order to help us plan for the rest of the year. The Project

set a goal of $1.8 million over and above our current regular giving. This will allow us to continue to fund our first Greater Toronto Area site which launched earlier this year, work toward our second Greater Toronto Area site, our Winnipeg site, our Vancouver site, and 10 church plants in Cuba. It is an ambitious goal, but God has been leading us toward this point and just as we have trusted him to lead us in this church planting vision, we will trust him to lead us through the means of executing that vision.

The country of Canada has experienced a decline of the Christian church as it has transitioned firmly into a post-Christian culture. Our vision for Canada is that the gospel would be compellingly proclaimed through Village Church locations across the country in its major centers. Currently, in addition to the Online Site, Village Church has seven physical locations across three provinces. With the addition of Village Church in Winnipeg and our first location in the city of Vancouver proper, that will soon become 9 physical locations across four provinces!

Our Village Church Planting Vision for this year is to fund the financial needs of three new Canadian locations:

Winnipeg

Vancouver

Each of these new sites is in various stages of development, with GTA West recently launched, Winnipeg holding watch parties and running community groups, and Vancouver beginning to form a core team. Your financial partnership will ensure that these three sites all continue to move forward without interruption.

The Church Planting Fund will be used for all costs associated with new Village Church locations (<2years old) and potential new Village Church locations.  These costs could include, but are not limited to supplies, rent, lease, training, equipment, payroll, hospitality, travel, and event costs. This fund can also be used to support other registered Canadian charities involved in planting churches in Canada or internationally. This fund is subject to the Village Church Donor Restricted Gift Policy.
