You make it happen
“The church is a battleship, not a cruise liner.”
– Wayne Cordeiro
Three weeks into our Radical Marriage series, attendance grew by 800 people. It’s evident that the gospel is transforming lives and people are coming to hear more about Jesus. What you might not know, however, is that such significant growth in such a small amount of time produces practical issues. It’s hard for a church of 2900 people to operate when only 600 people are serving (23%).
From the beginning of Village Church, now almost four years ago, we have always held that church needs to be the church (Ephesians 4:12). With an influx of people like this, our leaders resolved to interrupt the Radical Marriage series with one sermon titled "#youmakeithappen". It was a call for all people who call Village Church home to think seriously about stepping up to service.
We needed 350 people to sign up for service in the different areas of ministry that were in need. Amazingly, over 850 of you stepped up. Thank you! We joined together to prove that “the church is a battleship, not a cruise liner.”
We can’t wait to see what God is going to do in the weeks ahead. We are praying huge prayers of thanks and asking God to continue working in our people so that more of our city hears the gospel and sees it lived out in the people who serve at Village Church.
If you signed up that Sunday, please make sure to follow through on whatever steps our leaders have given you. If you signed up and haven’t heard from us let us know.
This is Village Church. You make it happen.
