God is alive, and he speaks through the Bible (the word of God) to transform our thoughts, hearts, and actions!
As you read each day, you can follow this basic structure to guide you. There are many Bible study methods, so if this doesn’t work for you, then you can focus on just reading and talking to God or try another method that works for you. The important thing is that you are reading and praying.
Join us as a church community as we read our Bible daily. You’ll find resources on this page to give you the passages we are reading, a suggested structure for reading them, and tips to help you make it happen.
We are reading the Book of Mark followed by the Book of Romans together.
01 Read
02 Reflect and Reread Noting:
God is inviting you to meet with him daily! Reading your Bible is one of the most important habits to know God and become more like Jesus. He wants to spend time with you, speak to you through his Word, and transform you!
For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12
At the front of a physical Bible, you’ll have a table of contents listing all the books of the Bible (e.g. Mark, Romans, etc.). Each book is broken up into chapters and verses. So, when it says Mark 1:1, the first number is the chapter, and the second number is the verse. For example, Mark 3:12 is the book of Mark, chapter 3, verse 12. It’ll make sense as you look at the Bible.
If this is your first time picking up a Bible, or it’s been a long time, it is so good that you are taking this step! You can see some tips below to help you in making it happen.
Get daily text reminders with links to the passages by texting "BIBLE" to (855) 888-4747
You can watch a video overview of the Book of Mark and of the Book of Romans from the Bible Project. It will give you a big-picture view of what you’ll be covering.

Tips to Make
it Happen
Partner
Find someone to do the challenge with you. This will increase the likelihood of you being consistent. Set up regular times to connect and ask, “What stood out to you?” and pray with them. If they didn’t read, then ask, “What got in the way of your reading, and how can you change that?”
Worship Music
Some people enjoy listening to worship music before and/or during their daily Bible time.
Timing
Find a time of day that works. For some, it is before bed; for some, it is first thing in the morning; and for some, it’s during a break. The important thing is that you are in your Bible Daily and spending time with God. Set aside around 15 minutes.
Space
Find a quiet uninterrupted space or the closest thing to one. Turn off notifications on your devices and limit distractions.
Digging Deeper
If you want to go beyond reading the passage for the day and explore how others have interpreted the passages, then check out one of the following resources:
Read a commentary for the passages that you have questions about. A commentary is a book that can help you understand a Biblical text by giving comments on the context and meaning of the text. Here is one by Matthew Henry for Mark and one for Romans.
Sermons
Listen to Pastor Chris de Monyé preach on The Bible from the Essentials Series. He talks about how the Bible is a sacred text, the importance of context, and how it can shape us.
Workshop
You can hear from Pastor Michael Chinchilla on Essential Doctrines: Scripture on Workshop. He talks about different lenses for viewing the Bible and more.
You can hear from Pastor Darrell Johnson on having a Devotional Life on Workshop. He gives examples of what it looks like for him.
Families
Daily Readings
03 Respond
You may need to get creative when encouraging your family to be in the Bible Daily.
New or Non-Readers
You may need a Bible that is more understandable for their age and stage:
Jesus Storybook Bible
Children’s Storybook Bible in 365 Stories.
Youth
Encourage them to read independently or read the Bible with them.
For Any Age Ask and Share
Ask: What stood out to you from reading the Bible? (about God, Self, Others)
Share: Share with them what stood out to you.
Ask: What can you do with what stood out to you?
Share: Share what you can do with what stood out to you.
Tips for Reading Together as A Family
01. Reason
Have a good reason to read the Bible. Answer the “why” up front. Create a family why statement. Here is an example: “We are reading the Bible together because we want to know and love God and live our lives in a way that gives glory to him.”
02. Routine
Make it part of your routine. Pick a time that works best for your family. You will struggle some days, but the key is to keep at it!
03. Realistic
Be realistic. Reading through a lot of scripture at once may not mean you or your kids are learning more. Read what seems manageable and meaningful for your family.
04. Systematic
Be systematic. Read through whole books over time instead of jumping all over the place. This will help kids connect stories together and lead to a greater understanding of the overall Biblical story.
05. Pray
Ask God for help. Pray before you read. Ask God to help you learn from what you are reading.
06. Questions
Ask good questions. What does this story teach me about God? What does this story teach me about myself? What does this story teach me about others? What does this story teach me about what I am supposed to do?
