Village Langley North

Summer Camp Volunteers

We want to invite you to be part of the Summer Camp experience. This year’s Summer Camp is going to be ‘Out of Water’! We know the kids are going to love it, but having you there is what will make it memorable for them. It’s the relationships made that the kids will remember long after the fun and activities are over. Be a part of a team that’s building relationships and making memories with kids in a way that points kids to Jesus. Be a leader and make camp come alive!

Who can volunteer: People who have a passion for Jesus and for fun! Grade 6 students to grandparents!

Role Descriptions

What team will you help make amazing?

Group Leader

8:00am – 1:00pm
K-Gr. 2 group leaders will be assigned to a group of 6-9 kids for the five camp days. They will develop a relationship with these kids as they rotate through different activities: Opening Session, teaching, small group, crafts, games and closing session. The K-Gr. 2 Leaders are not responsible for the teaching, but they guide their group to stay on task and support the Leader of that area. Group leaders will get to run a small group time each day to connect with each other and the teaching of the day. Leaders help to create a great camp experience for their group by keeping them organized, safe and most importantly having fun!

Junior Leader (Gr. 6 – 8)

8:00am – 1:00pm
You qualify to be a Junior Leader if you are going into Grade 6-8. As a Junior Leader you will be under the leadership of the Village Youth staff who will team you up and position you where you will shine. You help make camp happen and the younger kids think you are so cool!

1:1 Camper Assistant

8:00am – 1:00pm
A 1:1 Camper Assistant, or “Buddy”, will be assigned to a specific child for duration of camp. They will help to maximize the child’s camp experience by providing assistance to the child in areas outlined by the parent or guardian of the child. This may include assisting in things like physical fine/gross motor tasks, preparing the child for transitioning to another activity, or taking the child for a “cool down” / “chill out” break time in a cool space we have created just for this purpose! All kids are welcome at camp and all of them respond and interact differently. Let’s make it a great opportunity for all of them to hear about Jesus in whatever way works for them!

Child Care

7:30am – 10:30am or 10:00am – 1:15pm
If you love toddlers and babies, this is the place for you! Some of our key volunteers have little ones who are not camper age. Child Care volunteers will run a program for the little ones for the day.

Nursing/First Aid

8:00am – 1:00pm
In order to be on this team, you need to be a registered nurse or be first aid certified. Nursing/First Aid volunteers are stationed in one of the first aid stations at camp. You and your partner will respond to needs at your station, or as directed by your team leader. All first aid volunteers carry walkie talkies and training will be provided on procedure and protocol for first aid at camp. Safety first! We love our kids.

Parking Team

8:00am – 9:30am & 12:00pm – 1:00pm
If you are part of the Parking Team you should be prepared to proudly wear your orange safety vest and diligently navigate carloads of eager campers to the closest free parking spot available. The parking team makes the first impression on those coming to camp. You’re important!

Snack Team

7:30am – 12:00pm
If you are part of the Kitchen Team you should expect to have lots of fun. You’ll be busy prepping morning coffee and snacks to welcome the volunteers when they arrive and prepare simple snacks with the team, and deliver them to the kids during their snack time. Once the daily snacks are delivered to each group then kitchen cleaned up and prepped for the next day begins! Kids and Volunteers love snack time!

Check-In and Check-Out

8:00am – 9:30am & 12:00pm – 1:00pm
This team is responsible for the intake of campers when parents drop them off and safe return when they pick them up. Safety and security is important to us so every child is officially checked into a set location and each parent is given a security code to use to pick up their child at the end of the day. The Check-In and Check-Out team will be provided all that is needed to securely check the campers in and out of their groups.

Greeting

8:00am – 9:30am
Greeters are one of the first people to make an impression on families each morning and we want to make a great first impression! We love our community and want them to feel welcome and cared for at camp! You should be prepared to welcome people, help them find their way and hand out maps or any necessary camp information. Greeters should be friendly, outgoing and engaging.

Set up Crew

Come for a few hours or come all day. We will be hanging signs, prepping the field for parking, setting up the auditorium seating and décor, prepping the first-aid room, prepping our Small Group and teaching areas, cleaning, organizing the kitchen, etc.! It’s a lot of fun to work shoulder to shoulder and anticipate how all of the kids will experience this amazing camp. Come on out and help us get ready! The time this is happening is TBD.

Tear Down Crew

Well, the party will be over, but the work and the fun don’t end. Come out and help us pack up all of our supplies and signs and set the camp back up to be how we found it. It’s fun to tell stories about all the cool things we saw happen in all of the spaces as we clean up. Join us and help us finish well! ! The time this is happening is TBD.
