The Ministry Student program exists to create a space where the next generation can get practical ministry experience by doing hands-on work in the local church.

Ministry
For nine months, students will work alongside Village Church leaders who guide them through personal, theological, and leadership development. Our long-term goal is that this nine-month experience will help them become better life-long leaders in the local church and/or help them decide if vocational ministry is for them.
The 4 Main Goals
The following are the four main goals of the Ministry Student Program and students will be support through development and coaching.
1.
Spiritual Formation
Students will have opportunities to develop and grow in their personal faith through practical experiences and training. This will include topics of devotions, prayer, fasting, tithing, sabbath, etc.

Dynamic Community
One of the long-term goals of this program is to provide students with the opportunity to build friendships and community that will push each other on for Jesus and last beyond their time in the program.

Ministry and Leadership Training
Students will have opportunities to develop their leadership skills, training, and experience in a ministry area they are passionate about. This will be done through their specific Ministry Track and the time they spend with their Track Coach. Our goal is not to have students just do “things” but to give them levels of responsibility and ownership over the length of the program.
3.
Theological Confidence
Students will have the opportunity to spend time in theological training to help them feel confident in leading others with the word of God. This will be done through discussion, workshops, and readings throughout the program. The goal is not to be academic but to learn the practical side of theology.

THE DETAILS
The 20 hours are broken down into two main categories: Leadership Development and Ministry Track time. Students will spend 5 hours in practical Leadership Development, which takes place in person at the Ministry Centre every Monday, and 15 hours in their chosen Ministry Track. The 15 hours are flexible, but some of that time may be set based on your selected Ministry Track.
After an initial week at the Ministry Centre, the program will kick off with a retreat to Stillwood Camp and Conference Centre to give Students and Track Coaches time to get to know each other and set out the expectations for the coming year. The retreat will be three days long and attendance is mandatory for all Ministry Students.
Additionally, every month, a night will be dedicated to being together as a community, whether it be a beach bonfire, bowling, movies, potlucks, social events, etc. These nights help us reach our goal of building a dynamic community that lasts beyond the program.
Each year, the Ministry Student Program runs from September to April and is a 20-hour-a-week program.
These funds are used to cover the cost of the materials, swag, coaching, the three-day retreat, and celebration nights. Payment for the program will be due 30 days before the start of the program in September.
