Prayer helps us fully submit ourselves to what God wants and align with God’s agenda, allowing him to do his work through us in whatever way he sees fit.
So, each week we have a different topic to pray for, and we invite you, as a part of Village Church, to join us in taking intentional time to pray for these things. You can see the weekly prayer topics below.
Not totally sure about prayer? We’ve prepared resources below where you can learn more about it!

How to Pray
Click here for our Personal Prayer webpage with information on how to pray, tips to make it happen, and other FAQ’s about prayer.
Simply put, praying is talking to God and listening to Him.
God knows what we are going to pray about, it is more a matter of us connecting with Him. Romans 8:26-27, “Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And He who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.”
By spending time with God in talking to Him and listening to Him through the Bible (His word to us), and through Him speaking through others, we deepen our relationship with Him. The more connected we are to Him the more the desires of His heart become the desires of our heart. This helps us as we pray, as we want His will and His affections to be ours.
For this month of prayer, we encourage you to pray through our weekly topics listed above. After January, go to the Personal Prayer webpage and follow the guide there to continue praying daily.
Why Pray?
Because we get to! Through Jesus’ death and coming back to life, He made a way for us to talk directly with the God of the universe! We don’t need to set up an appointment, we can talk to Him anytime. It is about us joining with God, and bringing about His plan in us and through us.
Because we love Jesus and want to talk to him.
Because God tells us to. It is a primary means for deepening our relationship with Him, growing in wisdom, strength, encouragement, battling the enemy, praising Him, seeking healing and hope, praising Him, and more.
There is power in prayer individually. We align ourselves with God in His presence, purposes, and power. We ask God to move in certain ways and He hears us and can be moved. We praise Him by pouring out our hearts to Him.
There is power in prayer when we come together. We can support each other, and we can join together united under God. We are part of one body, yet we have different giftings and ways of seeing things (1 Cor. 12:18-20). The beauty of this is that when we pray together, we will pray differently from each other and this can open us up to pray for things or pray in ways that we may not have thought on our own. Yet, we pray with one spirit and we can pray with unity and support.
