6 Candle-lit Meals
6 Nights to talk with your partner about what really matters
1 Connected Marriage

What is the Village Marriage Course?

The Village Marriage Course is a 6-week course for couples looking for practical support to strengthen their relationship.

Who is it for?

The Village Marriage Course is for any couple who wants to invest in their relationship, whether you have been together one year or 61 years, whether you have a strong relationship or are struggling. The course will help you intentionally invest in your relationship, strengthen your communication, and deepen intimacy. The course has also helped struggling relationships identify specific areas they need marital counselling in to help them work through issues.

While the course is based on Christian principles, it is designed for couples with or without a church background.

What can you expect?

You will start each evening by sharing a candlelit dinner with your spouse. Each meal consists of 3-courses, non-alcoholic beverages, and dessert. After the live teaching that focuses on the topic for the evening, you will be guided in exercises that apply the teaching. Background music ensures that you and your spouse can interact in privacy.

Each week you will have homework that will take the teaching to a deeper level. It is recommended that you set aside a couple hours a week to complete the homework as a couple.

Josh Kruse, who is a Registered Psychologist and the Pastor of Counselling & Care at Village Church, co-leads the course with his wife, Rachael. They will be supported by marriage mentors who have a wealth of experience and have a passion for coming alongside couples. They will be available during each session and throughout the week for additional support as needed. They bring practical skills to building strong, exciting marriages and we strongly encourage you to connect with them throughout the course.

Some topics include:

  • Understand each other’s needs – emotionally and physically
  • Communicate more effectively – “What do I really mean and what are you really saying?”
  • Grow closer by learning methods to resolve conflict and communicate without fear
  • Recover from the ways you may have hurt each other
  • Recognize how your upbringing and personality affects your relationship
  • Develop greater sexual intimacy and spiritual intimacy
  • Discover how to leverage one another’s “love languages” and emotional abilities
  • Develop a marriage that is on mission

Course Fee

The fee is $300.00 per couple, which includes the course workbook, and 6 sessions with candlelit meals and beverages, and a Couple Checkup assessment (no additional fee) reviewed by a certified Marriage Mentor Couple.
