Mackie's Place

Mackie’s Place offers a safe space and resources to our youths most at risk. They offer a place where youth can come and learn valuable life and working skills. Some of those skills are learned in their industrial kitchen, making culinary meals and top-notch baking for the Pie Club, and in their cafe, learning barista skills.

MP operates out of multiple locations throughout the week. Drop-in nights on Mondays at Cedar Grove Church, their headquarters, and more!

Opportunities:

  1. Drop-In Nights take place on Mondays and Thursdays where volunteers can build long-term connections with the youth, provide encouragement, and support those in the Job Skills Program.
  2. Employment Resources volunteers provide hands-on support by helping youth write resumes, practice their interview skills, and submit job applications.
  3. Pie Club drivers deliver freshly-baked pies to the Pie Club members once per month. Deliveries take place on designated routes throughout the Lower Mainland on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Fridays.
  4. Special Events: Annual Graduation Celebration, Youth Christmas Dinner, and Garden Party fundraiser
  5. Community Coffee volunteers support the Barista Skills Program graduates during their shifts (Wednesday and Thursday mornings).
  6. Kitchen volunteers prepare the home-cooked meals that are served at drop-in nights. In the pie kitchen, volunteers assist with packaging pies to go out for delivery to their monthly Pie Club Members.
