Alpha at Village Church

Alpha is a series of sessions exploring the Christian faith. Each talk looks at a different question around faith and is designed to create conversation.

The talks are designed to engage and inspire conversation. They are usually around thirty minutes long and are played on video. They explore the big issues around faith, unpack the basics of Christianity, and address one of these questions each week: Is there more to life than this?, Who is Jesus?, Why did Jesus Die?, How can I have faith?, Why and how do I pray?, Why and how do I read the bible?, Who is the Holy Spirit?, What does the Holy Spirit do?, How can I be filled with the Spirit?, How can I resist evil?, Why and how should I tell others?

Every Village Alpha session starts with food -- it's a great way to build community and get to know each other.

But probably the most important part of any Alpha is the chance to share thoughts and ideas on the topic, and simply discuss it in a small group. There's no obligation to say anything and there's nothing you can't say. It's an opportunity to hear from others and contribute your own perspective in an honest, friendly, and open environment.

Alpha is intended to engage people who are skeptical or brand new to Christianity. Since space is limited, we can't accept Christians who already understand the basics, unless they are bringing a friend who is new to Christianity.

*We intend to run another Alpha course in the near future, and we hope you can join us then. We'll announce the date here, so stayed tuned.
