A Brand New Child & Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit

A little over one year ago, Village Church came together to raise money for a crucially needed psychiatric facility for kids and youth in Surrey. We organized a team to run and volunteer in the BMO Vancouver Marathon on May 1, 2016. Through their efforts and many generous donations made by the people of Village Church, we were able to raise $30,000 toward this local project.

Last week we got the chance to see the new facility before it was opened. As we were toured around the Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Stabilization Unit (CAPSU), the medical professionals were grateful and astounded that our church would partner with them on such a much needed and practical initiative. This new facility is state of the art and the first of its kind in Canada. It will begin to cover the gaps in the current youth psychiatric care system by allowing for quicker, dedicated, and intentional care that meets the best standards in the field. Kids ages 6-17 who need hospital stays of five to ten days will finally have a place to be able to receive the best care, right here in Surrey.

At Village Church we believe that we are called to make a positive difference in our local communities. Thank you so much for your support for this important and impactful project.
