By God’s grace our church continues to see people come to know Jesus, get baptized, and get involved.
This fall we have seen significant growth across our campuses (a 48% increase), and to be clear, it is all God’s doing. Paul says in 1 Corinthians 3:6 that one may plant a church and another may water it but it’s God that makes it grow. This was true in Corinth in the first century and it’s true today among us at Village Church in 2016. There are amazing stories of life transformation in the last few months: marriages healed, people coming to faith, parents and kids repenting of sin together and blazing a new path forward, and so many other amazing reports.
These are all unreal moves of God among us that have reverberated out and touched many lives, which has caused such growth among us that the pastors, directors, and elders have been seeking the Lord about what is next for us as a church. How do we reach new people for Christ, while at the same time, do sustainable and excellent ministry and disciple the people God is bringing to us in this season of our church? There are a number of things we are working on and will be rolling out in the next few months, the first of which is this: we will be launching a third service at Village Langley!
The first service at Village Langley is already at capacity and the second is 3/4 full. This is reason alone to start another service but what makes it absolutely necessary are the parking challenges. While we appreciate the locals who allow us to park on their fields, those are now quickly turning to muddy swamps and that’s not good for you, your family, or your friends. Some of those parking pressures will be alleviated by starting a third service. Space in Village Kids will also be opened up with a third service and more seats will be opened up to reach more people over the next couple of years. The third service will launch on Sunday, November 13 making our Langley service times 8:30am, 10:00am & 11:30am.
While this change is exciting because of what it will produce, this evolution does add complexity to our church. This means we all need to make this happen together. The days of hired staff and professionals being able to just roll with the changes and adjust their weekly schedules are over. We all need to be inthis crazy mission together to do whatever we can to reach people for Jesus with the time God has given to us. Going forward, seriously evaluate how you are contributing: Are you stepping up to serve? Are you giving sacrificially? Are you inviting your friends to hear the gospel and then taking them under your wing to disciple them day to day?
Such is the call on all our lives. These are exciting times to be serving Jesus in our city and nation!
